A movie memorabilia auction that is not to be missed

There will be some valuable pieces of MGM movie memorabilia for sale on Thursday, Dec. 12, when Hollywood Parts in North Hollywood, Calif., holds its Hero Wardrobe and Props auction.

There will be an accompanying online auction at iCollector.com, and both the live and digital versions will allow collectors to bid on a wide range of wardrobes and props from some of the most popular movies of the last decade.

Sci-fi classics
Science fiction movies are popular favorites, and many of the most iconic films from that genre will be well-represented in the upcoming Hollywood memorabilia auction.

Items from "Serenity," Joss Whedon's 2005 movie that was the culmination to the one-season cult classic TV show "Firefly," will be on the block. Wardrobe pieces worn by actress Summer Glau (lots #159, 161 and 162), who played the show's titular character, will likely be the most sought after garments. But there will also be clothes worn by Morena Baccarin (lot #166), who played Inara, and Chiwetel Ejiofor (lot #165), who has risen to prominence recently on the heels of his performance in "12 Years a Slave," on display as well.

Among the other notable sci-fi props on the block will be a full-sized maquette of the alien queen mother from "Aliens" (lot #173), three of the robots that appeared in the movie "Real Steel" (lots #48, 51 and 85) and various props from the production of "Cowboys and Aliens" (lots #94, 95 and 96).

Thrillers
The 2009 thriller "Last House on the Left" was one of the biggest box office draws that year, and now fans of the horror movie can take home some of the wardrobes that helped to cast an eerie light over the movie. Wardrobes worn by the film's stars, including Monica Potter, Sara Paxton and Aaron Paul, will be up for grabs, along with several other items from the movie.

One item from "Van Helsing," the 2004 crowd-pleaser about a famous vampire hunter, will also be in the auction. A leather vest worn by the movie's star, Hugh Jackman, is available (lot #169), which should pique the interest of fans of the international superstar.

Those are just a few of the 170-item collection of props and wardrobes from various MGM classics that will be available at the Dec. 12 movie memorabilia auction. For those who can't make it out to California, the only place to check out the inventory and start picking out the best items is at iCollector.com.
