The star of the show is at Lot 94, a Holland & Holland Royal Ejector Model Double Rifle. Here is the catalog description:
Exceptional Holland & Holland Royal Ejector Model Double Rifle, #35097. 25” barrels are chambered for .30 Super flanged (rimmed) cartridges; a .45” wide matted rib containing a fixed sight for 50 yards and one flip-up for 200 yards; and a standard round front sight. Action is the venerable H& H hand-detachable sidelock, with two locking underlugs and a third fastener in the breech face. Action features double triggers (front not articulated), auto safety and auto ejectors. Locks, escutcheons, bolsters, and other metal parts are case hardened; trigger guard and two tangs are blued, all are fully engraved in a floral pattern. Splinter forend and pistol-grip buttstock are of highly-figured European walnut, with an integral cheekpiece, metal grip cap and cap box, an original-appearing red leather butt pad, and extensive checkering at 22 LPI. Stock dimensions are 14”x1-3/4”x4” (drops from sight plane). Rifle is fitted with sling swivels and a gold insert marked ”GD” and weighs 8.5 lbs. Rifle is housed in a Holland & Holland oak and leather case, also embossed ”G.D.”, with cleaning accessories, spare parts, oiler, sling, two ebony-handled turnscrews, and two boxes of .30 Super flanged ammunition (one opened); case is enclosed in a heavy canvas and leather outer case. Frame mfg’d late 1930’s, with H& H order dated 1940. Condition is excellent, with 95%+ case color remaining in the action, few small handling marks to wood. Bores are properly lubed, with butter-smooth operation of action. A wonderful rifle for mid-size game. Est.: $30,000-$40,000. (C& R)(Don Koll collection)
