Native American Artwork and Collectibles Presented for Auction by Desert West on November 21st and 22nd

Desert West Auction has put together another great auction slated for the 21st and 22nd of November, for two great days of weekend bidding action. Over 730 lots will be up for grabs with a great collection of material and consignments from around the country. iCollector.com is hosting the online catalog with live internet bidding for a national and worldwide audience of collectors. This auction will include Native American creations such as rugs, art, jewelry, kachinas, baskets, and pottery. There is also museum quality Mata Ortiz Pottery as well as some from Luiz Ortiz, Briana & Gaby V.S., and Daniel Gonzalez. In addition, there is great Mexican works such as southwestern rugs, Oaxacan Alebrijes, pottery, and jewelry. There is much more up for auction to the highest bidder.

A great buy on the first day is a beautiful Mata Ortiz Geometric jar at Lot 1159. This was created by Luis Ortiz and measures 12” by 7 ¼”. There are Paquime inspired lines and designs to view as well. The artist signed this piece. There is an opening bid of only $40 to get things started so this is a fantastic value piece. There are three photos available in the online catalog to inspect this jar. A few lots later at 1166 is another beautiful Mata Ortiz Jar. This one is a Black Eye Dazzler Jar by the artist Juana Gaona. It measures 8” by 8” and is signed the artist. The body is highly textured with a gun metal finish. Photos are also online for this piece and it opens as another great buy at only $30.

Desert West Auction always bring quality textiles to their auctions. Lot 1198 is a great Navajo textile rug from Shiprock, New Mexico. It measures 18.5” by 38” and is like new. There are beautiful colors and 4 cornered tassels that are intact. Opening at only $60 this is a must buy. Another one is available at Lot 1233 and is a Navajo textile rug from the 1940’s. This one measures 36.5” by 16.5” with some bleeding. Another great value buy with an opening bid of only $20, this is another great buy for the collection.

A highlight of the 2nd day is another beautiful jar. At Lot 2075, Desert West Auction, presents a large Mata Ortiz Polychrome Geometric Jar. This is produced by Fito Tena and measures 14.25” by 9.5” and is signed by the artist. This lovely jar features maze designs and will look great on display. Three photos are available to see in the online catalog and this has a pre sale estimate of $80 to $100.

Both sessions, Saturday and Sunday November 21st and 22nd, open for live bidding at 11AM Mountain time coming from Mimbres, New Mexico. Desert West and iCollector.com will be offering a live audio and video feed on this sale, so any bidders on computers or laptops can be as close to the action as being there in person.
