The Little John’s Auction team are one of the premier firearms auctioneers in the country getting hard to find pieces for collectors and delivering fantastic auction prices.

A special feature in the first auction day is an 18NO-1 pair of Gustav Young 1849 pocket models in their original case, valued at $12500. The full description is:
” Pair of extra fine and deluxe engraved 1849 Colt Pocket Models in original rosewood case with 4” barrels, blue and case hardened finish, ivory grips, S/N 102803 & 102805. The pair are intricately engraved by Gustave Young with very tight and fine scrolls, hand cut barrel address, cob webs, hand cu Colts patent in banners, and his recognizable floral and beast intertwined. The screw heads are also engraved and the pattern is fancier than normally found. The pair show 75%-85% original finish with minor losses and normal aging. A few very small areas of minor erosion and pinprick pitting. The majority of their original cylinder scenes remain intact. The grips are near fine with impeccable fit and slight yellow patina due to natural aging. The grips are absolutely the originals to this set. Sharp markings and all matching visible numbers. Tight actions and crisp overall. The majority of darkened silver plate on trigger guards. The rosewood case is very good plus to almost fine with just minor and normal aging. Slight fading and impressions at contact points”

Taking a pause from the hundreds of firearms, Lot 943a on the second day of the auction is a very interesting piece. Offered is a revolutionary war cannon. This cannon is approximately 40” overall and by tradition, was found in the Deleware river back in the 1950’s. It is naval style and probably American made but there are no visible markings. It is in stable condition and an excellent piece of history to add to the collection.

Over 700 lots are served up on the third day, and a great standout is Lot 1625a. This Colt 1911 is an historical piece worth bidding on. The full description in the catalog is:

“Colt Model 1911 U.S. Property marked “Black Army” .45 ACP cal., semi automatic pistol with history as belonging to John Hudson Poole. J.H. Poole graduated West Point in 1901. He served as a Captain assisting Chief of Engineers in the Philippines and as Disbursing Officer in Manila. Between 1905-1910 he served as aide to Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt and as Superintendent of State of War Department Building, Washington DC. He retired in 1910 and was active in Minnisota mining until 1917, when he was assigned to the staff of John “Black Jack” Pershing. He received many decorations and was discharged with the rank of Colonel. He married Caroline M. Boing and moved to Pasadena, CA. His son, John Hudson died in 1940. This exact pistol and accompanying artifacts were obtained by Robert O. McDearmon, noted antique collector and dealer from J. H. Poole Jr. in Newport Beach circa 1995 with a notarized affadavit. The Colt remains in almost fine original condition, with 95-98% original military finish, minimal aging.”
