Helm’s Fall Sale of Native American Artifacts Happens on September 29th

Helm’s Fall 2018 Sale catalog contains Native American artifacts such as Navajo weavings and Pueblo pottery, Pre-Columbian artifacts, and other pre-historic items such as arrowheads and other stone tools. Also included are Oceanic, African, Chinese and Japanese tribal artifacts. This catalog also includes Native American and Mexican jewelry from the 20th century as well as many other items. Absentee bidding is currently going in the online catalog and the live auction kicks off on Saturday September 29th, 2018.

Collectors need to have a close look at Lot 70. Presented is a California Obsidian collection of pre-historic items. This collection has a beautiful selection of arrow heads and the largest object measures 5 ¼”. There are several photos in the online catalog to see what is up for grabs on this interesting group. Estimated in value from $1000 to $2000, this is a must buy for pre-historic collectors.

One of the most valuable pieces in this auction comes through the block at Lot 250. Helm Auction is offering a stunning Pomo Coil Basket-Globular. Circa 1890’s, this is made of willow and grass. It features polychrome black, tan and gold in the design. It measures 9 ½” by 9 ½” by 4 ½” and is in good condition with only minor stich loss. See the beautiful images in the online catalog and ready for bidding. Opening online for only $100, this will hammer down for well over the minimum estimate of $2500.

Lot 285 is a featured piece from Japan. Bidders can grab a ceremonial Kimono from circa the 1880s. This beautiful work is made of silk and cotton, and measures 24” at the chest and is 65” tall. There are fine bird figures on the outer garment and it is in good condition. The photos are absolute beauty and bidders can get their bids in immediately on this historical Kimono.
