There is a beautiful saddle available at Lot 1132 in the first day of the auction. This lot presents a custom made Buffalo Bill Cody replica saddle that was created by Cling Mortenson. It is a complete replica right down to the sterling silver conchas and the Angora wool rear cover. This lot has already generated considerable interest and is estimated as high as $4000 in its presale estimates.
A very rare pair of First National Bank of Helena checks can be had at Lot 2208 on the 2nd day of the sale. These are a pair of RN-B! checks including a first and second (an original and duplicate check). Both checks have a picture of a bank teller on the left with a stack of coins and ingots in front of him. This is an incredibly rare pair of collectible checks in very good condition. This is one of the must have so of the sale for collectors of bank instruments.
The first day of the three October sessions has a beautiful and Vintage Pima Basket up for auction at Lot 4278. This large bowl is 17.5” in diameter and 6.5” high. It is woven of willing, devil’s claw and grass. The Pima (Akimel O’odham) first called themselves Othama until the first account of interaction with non-Native Americans was recorded. The Akimel O’odham were experts in producing intricate baskets. This basket is in very good condition with just some dirt on the bottom and is circa 1900’s. Bidding online for this basket is opening at $500.
A very interesting piece is worth looking at the next day at Lot 5296. This lot presents and Allender Gold Coin Counterfeit Dectector. This was designed and patented by John Allendar and is a nice original made of brass. This is a scarce device and has places for coins of various denominations ranging from one dollar to 20 dollars. It is 8.75” in length and was produced circa 1965. The estimated auction value is $400 to $1200 and this makes an interesting conversation piece for a collection.
