The owner of D & D Collectibles, Doug Cowan, tells a great story about getting involved in coin collecting:
D & D Collectibles is excited to bring their debut to the iCollector.com platform with over 280 lots of US Coins up for grabs in a timed auction ending April 10th, 2019 at 6PM Mountain Time / 5PM Pacific Time. This catalog features gold coins, sets, and all denomination of coins from one cent pieces to some great Morgan silver dollars. Most pieces have starting bids of less than $100 ensuring a lot of great buys for collectors at this auction.
“Because of a severe medical condition at about 12 years old,
I was bedridden for over a year. Try to keep a 12-year-old down 24/7—not an
easy nor fun thing to do. My dear dad, in an attempt to help me, started me out
with a few Whitman coin folders. He would take his weekly paycheck and get
cashed into coins at the bank, and let me search through them to fill the
folders. “Not too many, son.” I really became excited and looked forward to
paycheck day, hoping to find the three-legged buffalo nickel or the 1909 S VDB
Lincoln cent. What fun I had!
Little did I or anyone realize then that this
special act of love by my dad would affect the rest of my life. My interest
grew and my love for coins was always there, even while growing up and living
life’s road. I still love my US coins and love the story each can tell. Because
of collecting, my interest grew to buying and selling as well as metal
detecting and treasure hunting.
Since I was at a young age, the coin fever just
kept growing. There is no age barrier for collecting coins. IT IS FUN!!
Send me your story. I love to hear how you were
bitten by the coin bug!
Doug”
