2017 Cowboy Con Auction Coming for Live Bidding on August 6th, 2017

Holabird Western Americana is in preparation for a highlight auction on August 6th. 2017. There are almost 400 lots to chose from, with both live and absentee bidding available with iCollector.com. The event will be simulcast at the first-ever Cowboy-Con Convention, slated for Aug. 4-6 at the nearby Reno/Sparks Convention Center. Bidding opens on Sunday the 6th at Noon Pacific Time.

“This auction will include everything the novice or advanced collector needs, to outfit his or her cowboy dreams,” said Fred Holabird of Holabird Western Americana Collections, LLC. “We’ve got saddles, guns, Native American art and artifacts, and items relating to Pawnee Bill, including his wooden trunk, his Winchester model 94 rifle, a framed autograph and a profile photograph.”

Lot 1141 is the Pawnee Bill (Major G W Lillie) Winchester Model 94 Deluxe with bidding opening at $12500. As fully described in the online catalog:
This Winchester model 94 is Pawnee Bill’s .30 cal. W.C.F. deluxe rifle. It has a 26 in. round barrel with a full length magazine tube, flip up globe front sight, and adjustable buck-horn rear sight, The deluxe model included a case hardened finish nose cap, receiver, and loading lever all are now faded and patinated. This one includes swivels at the nose cap and butt-stock. The barrel is richly blued and has retained most of its original color. The butt stock has a rubber recoil pad and an early percussion period style gold plated cap-box on the right side of the stock with the inscription “1907 MAJOR G. W. LILLIE” on the face while the box contains the original cleaning jag and drop line. This magnificent piece is not only a piece of Western history lore in that it was Pawnee Bill’s personal rifle; it is also a magnificent piece of Winchester history in it is own right.

This Winchester model 94 Deluxe was manufactured in 1899 S/N 194XX and features the improved nickel steel and rare 26 in. round barrel. This unique deluxe 94 features a full pistol grip with checkering on the butt stock and as well as the fore stock at 24 lines per inch. The pistol grip also features the early Winchester Repeating Arms Co. hard rubber horn cap with an engraved screw. The stock also features a special ordered shotgun butt-plate. It is obvious that it was special ordered from the factory by Pawnee Bill and not only a one-of-a-kind Winchester, it also belonged to one of the famous showmen of the Old West- Pawnee Bill. Holabird has an incredible selection of artifacts to chose from. Lot 1307 is one of the most valuable pieces of Native work in the sale. This is an Ornate Crow Rifle Scabbard circa 1870s to 1880s. This is a 43” long pouch with additional skin fringes on the top and bottom. There are multi colored beads and this was consigned by the Cowboy Connection in Livingston, Montana. Bidding opens for $7000 and this is estimated in value as high as $18000.
