An outstanding proof set from the United Kingdom is one of the most valuable pieces of the first day of the auction. At Lot 37, up for auction is United Kingdom 2004 Gold Proof Set. This is a limited edition set numbered 899 of 2250. This premium set features 4 proof gold coins each weighing an impressive 19.61 grams of solid 22 carat gold. It also features iconic symbols of the Scotland Unicorn, The Heraldic Dragon from Wales, the White Hart Male Deer of Northern Ireland, and the Lion of England. It all comes with it’s original packaging and paperwork with over 2.21 ounces of pure gold. This is a truly beautiful set and the photos are in the online catalog, and there is an opening bid of $3400 Canadian.
There are over 20 different coins from Newfoundland throughout the first day of the auction. Some feature pieces start at Lot 90 which is a 10 cent 1888 piece graded ICCS EF-40. Lot 100 presents a fantastic $2 gold coin 1870 Obv 2. This coin is in about AU condition with just some light surfaces scratches. There are 1 cent, 5 cent, 20 cent, and 50 cent pieces available. The most valuable offering of the 2nd day is at Lot 502. This is coin that is seldom offered for auction in this grade. Presented is a Canadian 50 cent 1899 piece that is certified AU 55. This bright coin exhibits nice mint luster throughout most of the margins and has crisp details. This is a true gem in this grade and carries a competitive opening bid of $4000 Canadian. The second day also highlights some great Canadian silver dollars and a unique off centre strike 5 cent 1975 Canadian coin that is available for bidding at Lot 699.
