The Dynasty Auction Gallery in Wheeling, Ill., will be the setting for an art auction featuring more than 500 works by American and foreign artists on Oct. 22. Also hosted online at iCollector.com, this auction will offer art appreciators and collectors the opportunity to add pieces from some of the most prominent names in the art world, as well as lesser-known painters who are trying to make a name for themselves in an increasingly competitive market.
Featured artists – Jane Wooster Scott
With five works up for bid, Jane Wooster Scott is one of the more prominent artists in the upcoming auction. Her colorful, expressive interpretations of Americana evoke a simpler time in the country, harkening back to the works of Norman Rockwell and his depictions of the country's cultural traditions.
Working off her own photographs of classic American attractions, like the carousel she uses in her work, "Clowning Around" (lot #730052), Scott creates beauteous representations of an era that has long since passed, yet has never been forgotten. Art appreciators and those who are nostalgic for a bygone time won't want to miss the chance to place a bid on her works.
Featured artists – Urbain Huchet
The French painter Urbain Huchet, born in Rennes, France, in 1930, spent his early years studying law and running a textile factory in his hometown. Then, at the age of 30, Huchet decided to dedicate himself to his art, launching a career that has spanned more than 50 years.
First Huchet traveled to Paris, where he spent three years improving his craft, but it wasn't long before his taste for adventure and experience took hold and led him on a worldwide odyssey that would serve as his inspiration throughout his impressive career.
As he trekked across Europe, the Middle East and South America, Huchet painted interpretations of tropical scenes – which can be seen in his signed lithograph, "Saint Jean Cap Ferrat" (lot# 730150) – as well as sketches of his native country, like a stunning lithograph of the Pont Neuf in Paris (lot #730135).
Antique advertising
Not all of the pieces on display at this live and online art auction are original works: Some of them are examples of classic advertising and promotional materials from some of the most iconic brands and characters in American history.
An original production cel from a Jolly Green Giant television commercial (lot #730353), which comes with a certificate of authenticity, is one piece that anyone who loves searching for TV and movie memorabilia for sale will truly cherish.
Fanta and Disney teamed up in the 1980s to make a series of commercials, and an original production cel from one of those ads will be available as well. The cel, featuring Donald Duck's nephew, Huey (lot #730372), is hand-inked and hand-painted, making it an excellent example of the crossover between art and advertising.
