In the first half of this auction, there are a couple of pieces that will be sure to bring significant interest and a welcome addition to any collection. At Lot 33 in the online catalog, is a red satin jacket from Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. This jacket was previously owned and worn by the artist himself, and is printed with beautiful patterns of dragons, pagodas, and various motifs. The interest will be outstanding for this beautiful piece.
Also, the very next piece in the auction, is an in-house record company award for the legendary Freddie Mercury. This was given to him by Warner Pioneer Japan to congratulate him on his superlative album, A Night at the Opera. This award is in outstanding condition and photos can be seen by going to Lot 34 in the online catalog, on iCollector.com
The very last item in the sale at Lot 90, is the most notable piece in the auction and is a historically significant and valuable painting. This is a self-portrait from none other than one of the greatest music icons of all time, John Lennon. This is his first ever self-portrait that he painted at art college in 1958. This is an abstract work, in oil, that depicts a red figure side-on with unflattering features and a large stomach. This figure is set against a black background and looks drawn and despondent. This is a distinct and incredible piece showing Mr. Lennon’s talents were beyond creating music.
