Bidders Can Take a Journey Through Americana and Numismatics at Auction on April 10th

This auction is designed as an enjoyable discovery of Americana and Numismatics with over 680 Lots to choose from. This first session of April focuses on mining and has an outstanding selection of collectibles up for auction to the highest bidder. A truly fabulous piece of Comstock and Nevada history is available for bidding at Lot 1043. This is an original sign from a famous Virginia City assayer, Wiegand & Company. This impressive looking sign measures at 75” x 18” x 2” and is an important part of the mining history of the Comstock. There is chocolate brown text against a brown background that reads “Wiegand & Co / Assayers S Dowling/ Manager 38 No C St”. This piece opens for bidding at $5000 and is expected to fetch $10,000 or more to one lucky bidder.

Another piece of history stands out at Lot 1227 in the online catalog. This is a very interesting Cripple Creek Mining and Business Directory from 1894. This document was published by Hazeltine & Co in Cripple Creek and has 161 pages. This begins with a description of the district and of the towns, and then describes the mines, mills, and prospects. There are several detailed sections as well as ad scattered throughout from local businesses. A great cover photo is available to look at in the online catalog and this item is opening for only $750 and will sell to the highest bidder.

One of the most beautiful pieces up for auction on April 10th is an MM Fredrick, Virginia City, pocket watch. This is a size 18 Elgin pocket watch with 7-jewel hunter case movement. There is a single sunk white “MM Fredrick” dial with black roman numerals and blue spade hands. The glass crystal is still in excellent condition. The April 10th auction is the first in a series of sales in April taking the bidders on a discovery of Americana and Numismatics. Further sessions take place on April 11th, 17th, 18th, 20th, and 21st with many categories covered in each one.
