Dakota Plains Auctions PRESENTS The John Hunter Collection On November 30th

Dakota Plains Auctions is offering 230 lots from the collection of John Hunter for live auction beginning at 10AM on Saturday November 30th, 2019.  Featured are bits, saddles, leather, guns, flasks, traps, military collectibles, long guns, books, and much more.  This great catalog has something for everyone!  Register early to beat the rush and get in bids as soon as possible.

Lot 1 opens the auction with a US Model 1942 Springfield .69 caliber Rifle.  The full catalog description is:

“US Model 1842 Springfield .69 cal. NVSN with early 1844 date, issued to both US and Mexico during the war, original bayonet and ramrod, very good condition with functioning action.with early 1844 date, issued to both US and Mexico during the war, original bayonet and ramrod, very good condition with functioning action.”

Lot 8 is an excellent collectible piece that includes 3 US leather McKeever cartridge pouches.  The photos are an excellent vie and the lot is described as follows:

“Collection of 3 includes US leather McKeever 45-70 cartridge pouch a scarce example with hangers for shoulder straps, and 2 Colt bullet molds for .44 cal.45-70 cartridge pouch a scarce example with hangers for shoulder straps, and 2 Colt bullet molds for .44 cal.”

Lot 209 is a beautiful early rawhide exposed saddle that will generate a lot of bidding.  The photo is worth a look in the online catalog.  Dakota Plains shares the description:

“Early rawhide exposed saddle probably military orginally with period applied black leather 2 pc. seat and skirts, fitted with tall brass horn. Seat 13 1/2″, includes M1850 saddle pommel holsters with original cartridge tins intact. Yoke seperated but repmilitary orginally with period applied black leather 2 pc. seat and skirts, fitted with tall brass horn. Seat 13 1/2″, includes M1850 saddle pommel holsters with original cartridge tins intact. Yoke seperated but repaired, flaps acontemporary replacements. Homemade saddle stand included.”
