The Spring Native American Auction from Helm Auctions

Helm Auctions is presenting their Spring Auction with 300 lots to with quality consignments available to the highest bidder. This auction consists of a collection of Native Artifacts, Pre Columbian Artifacts, and many other pre historic items. Also featured are ethnic wood masks, Native American jewelry, pottery, and weavings, as well as a wonderful selection of baskets. There is a significant group of high end pre Columbian ceramic sculptures on the auction block as well as a fantastic grouping of Plains Indian beadwork. All items are selling to the highest bidder with the utmost care to customer satisfaction. The auction begins live on Saturday, April 9th ,2016.

Lot 113 is an attention grabber with a beautiful Edaakie Signed Sterling Silver Concho Belt. This is signed by both Derrick and Nichelle Edaakie, circa 1970’s. The link belt features silver, coral, turquoise, jet, mother of pearl, and abalone shells. The belt is 40.5″ long and features birds. The main concho has an eagle and measures 2 by 2 inches. The other fourteen Conchos each measure 1 ½ inches with the total length approximately 40 ½ inches. There are six matching pairs of birds, a white owl and a quail, and the silver weight is 159.5 grams. There is a great array of photos in the online catalog and this is valued up to $700.

A highlight later on in the auction is a large kachina doll up on the auction block at Lot 153. This is circa the 1950’s and is made of cedarwood and paint. The doll measures 26 ½” tall by 13” by 4” with a stand. This was purchased at an estate sale in La Jolla, California. It is believed to be a copy of a famous kachina, similar to the one pictured in the American Indian Art Spring 1991 catalog. The photos have been carefully taken to show the beauty of this doll and it is a large item that requires special shipping. It is fully available for bidding in the online catalog and looks to be one of the best buys of the auction.

Lot 244 is one of the most beautiful parts of the auction. Presented here is a large Native American headdress with such stunning visuals it is a must have for collectors. This is a 20th Century piece made of glass beads, feathers, and cloth. The headdress measures roughly 32” by 22” and is Navajo from New Mexico. It still has the original tag from the gallery and is for ceremonial purposes. The condition is very good and this is opening at only $120 showing it will be an exciting piece on auction day.
