The Paris February Sale from Geoffrey Bell Auctions – Feb 1st

Canada’s premier numismatic auction house is kicking off the new year with their Paris in February Sale, which is held annually in conjunction with the Paris Coin Show, Canada’s Best 1-Day Coin Show.  The auction takes place February 1, 2020 at 5pm at the Hampton Inn & Suites Brantford Conference Centre, 20 Fen Ridge Court, Brantford, Ontario, with lot pickup available at the show in Paris the next day.  Online bidding will be at the Geoffrey Bell website or iCollector.com.  Absentee bidding is already open and online bidders are highly encouraged to get their bids in early.

This year’s sale features a diverse range of high-quality numismatic pieces, with something for every level of collector in every genre.

Highlights include a higher-grade 1954 Bank of Canada $1000 note, a complete set of famed Devil’s Face banknotes from 1954 including the $1000, some desirable early Dominion of Canada banknotes, including an attractive 1878 $1, sought after Bank of Canada notes, such as the famous “Shirley Temple” $20 of 1935, and a number of important chartered banknotes, like the Bank of Nova Scotia $20, 1929 with the popular dory vignette.

For Canadian decimal coins a number of scarce early issues are represented, including some tough-to-find varieties, like the 1858 10-cents 8/5 example, and the 1886 10-cents large knob 6 variety, in addition to some choice early and modern pieces that are too numerous mention.

Collectors of ancient coins, tokens, medals, and bibliophiles will also want to examine the material in the Paris in February Sale.
