The Story of Disneyland Told by Auction on August 20th from Van Eaton Galleries

Van Eaton Galleries is continuing to deliver the best Disney themed auctions in the marketplace. This year, they have begun a new type of auction and this is the first one in this new series. The auction, on August 20th, 2015, is what they are calling a Pop-Up Auction. This is a unique new concept where they will be announcing their auction dates in a spontaneous and sudden manner. There will be one every month but the auction date will only be announced a few days in advance. This is a fun new concept and will generate extra excitement for bidders as they visit iCollector.com looking for their next surprise.

Anyone who has ever visited Disneyland knows all about the amazing Enchanted Tiki Room. A fun part of the performance was the preshow at the Tiki Room, to keep guests entertained while they were getting ready to enter the main attraction. This entrance not only entertained but gave guests a crash course in Polynesian folklore. At the finale of the pre-show, “Tangaroa” the tree of life, pronounces “From my limbs, let new life fall!”. Tangaroa-Ru Babies, symbols of the new life, magically fall from the branches. One of these figures is up for auction exclusively to the highest bidder. At Lot 118 is an extremely rare opportunity to take home one of these beautiful figures. It measures roughly 11.5” high and is in great condition. This is estimated in value at over $4000 and is one of the must haves of this auction. A full array of photos is available for inspection in the online catalog before casting a bid.

Lot 143 is a unique opportunity to own a famous costume from the theme park. The cast costumes at the Haunted Mansion are some of the most iconic and best works of art in Disney history. This lot delivers an original early 1971 Haunted Mansion Butler costume with a beautiful cloak. Along with the cloak, it comes with a vest, pants, and the tie. This comes from the ride at Walt Disney World and is in good condition with no rips or tears. Either as a collector or as someone who wants to wear this to a special event, this is sure to please the winning bidder and is a rare and hard to find piece. Pre-sale estimates range from $2700 to $3000.

Backing up to the first few lots of the auction is a very interesting piece of memorabilia that will be snapped up quickly. Lot 24 is a 1970s Disneyland Main Street Train Station flag. This flag was displayed at the entrance to the station and has Mickey Mouse artwork on the fabric. This is a nylon version of the standard linen flag with “sample” written on the border. This measures roughly 22” by 34” and is in great condition with only a mild folding crease. This interesting flag was most probably a style Disneyland was considering to use for their standard material. There has been a lot of absentee bidding interest on the flag and it is sure to sell.

The auction begins for live bidding at 7PM Pacific Time on Thursday evening August 20th, 2015. This is open for absentee bidding right up until the sale, so anyone busy on Thursday night can still find their treasures.
