Impressive Offerings of Canadian Coins and Paper Money up for Auction at June 2015 Torex

The Canadian Numismatic Company is gearing up for an exciting sale coming in June, with online bidding on iCollector.com. Over 2200 lots of Canadian Coins, Paper Money, and Tokens will be up for grabs on 3 days of action. The sessions take place on June 26th, 27th, and 29th 2015 from the Hyatt Regency in Toronto, Ontario. This auction is expected to be one of the most prestigious numismatic events of 2015, featuring some of the finest and greatest Chartered and Dominion banknotes every offered to public.

This sale encompasses the impressive Kingston collection and the Phil Harter collection. These are joined with selections from 38 consignors from all over North America. Many of Canada’s finest known specimen and proof like examples and several Canadian rarities are included in the auction. According to owners Marc Verret and Eric Paquet, this auction will be unlike any other seen in the country.

Lot 101 is one of the feature notes of the first session. This is a Dominion of Canada 1870 $1 not with “Payable at Victoria”. The particulars are DC-2e #03786C and is a nice VG for its issue with some minur rim issues. The top front left of the note is missing as well. Only two notes of this are known to exist and one belongs to the National Currency Collection. This note opens at $20000 and is expected to get strong bidding. An absolutely superb example for the issue type comes a few lots later at Lot 107. An 1878 Dominion of Canada $1 banknote is sure to attract exceptional interest. This is noted as DC-8f-I #192874 and graded PCGS CH UNC63. This is the nicest ever seen and handled by this auctioneer and bidding is opening at $4500. Strong bidding is expected and this carries an estimate of $15000 to $20000.

An absolute knockout coin will be up for auction in the first few moments of the 2nd day at Lot 738. Here is an 1893 5 cent piece graded PCGS MS67. This is stunning issue and had pink and golden tones. The coin is flawless and one of the nicest Victoria Five Cent Silver the auctioneer has ever handled in over 33 years. It is perfect and an unsurpassable example, worthy of a premium bid. Bidding here will be exceptional again and is estimated at $15000 to $17000 but may very well hammer down above the estimate.
The third day has something for everyone and has a great selection to choose from. One of the highlights is a Royal Canadian Mint lot that includes a 2009 $300 Gold coin with the Provincial Coat of Arms of Yukon. This is 14kt gold and comes in its original box. Listed in the online catalog at lot 1631 it is available for an opening bid of only $1350.
