17th to 20th Century Antique Museum Quality Collection up for Auction May 16th

Pangaea Auctions is presenting a very special auction this weekend on iCollector.com with full live and absentee internet bidding. This auction entails museum quality lots collected from prestigious private collections and antique museum collections from across the world. Over 220 lots will be up for grabs to the highest bidder. Bidding is available on any PC, Mac, Smartphone, or Tablet; and secure registration is available 24/7 on iCollector.com.

Pangaea Auctions presents this special event a few times per year to highlight lots of the highest quality. Several private collections have been brought forth to put together this catalog. Collections include those from Chief Joe Dan Osceola of the Seminole Tribe as well as other private collectors from such cities as New York, Lima, Paris and Rome. There is a mix of lots from a world of cultures such as Chinese, African, Native American and South American.

Lot 6 sends the auction to an early height with a stunning earring ornament. Of Pre Columbian origin, this has a delicate weave design from the ancient Quimbaya Sinu Culture dating to the 5th to 10th century. This dazzling piece is similar to ornaments on display at the New York Metropolitan Museum. There are two COA’s included for the winning bidder. Photos and a full description are available in the online catalog; and bidding opens at only $500 for this historical piece.

Shortly after is a must have lot for collectors of Native American artifacts. Lot 35 is a group of artifacts from the personal collection of Joe Dan Osceola. There is a rare painting bowl that stands out as well as a variety of highly collectible arrowheads in this assortment. A selection of photos can be seen online and this collection could fetch over $1000 US due to its quality and historical value.

The always sought after Nantucket basket is a highlight near the end of the online catalog at Lot 194. This is an extremely rare Nantucket basket purse, from the early to Mid 20th Century. This is an oval basket with swing handle, ivory knobs and pin, with a carved whale bone. To see a basket object in this condition and intact is very rare. A special note is this can only be sold to US shipping addresses. There is a collection of photos to see online, and this basket should sell between $3000 and $4500.

Bidding commences live at 1PM Eastern Time on Saturday May 16th, 2015. Bidders unable to attend the online auction are encouraged to leave their bids in the iColletor.com system immediately to ensure the best success. All winners will be promptly notified of their winning acquisitions after the sale.
