Collection of Canada’s Finest Coins and Banknotes To Be Offered at the RCNA Auction

The Canadian Numismatic Company is excited to bring one of the most prestigious numismatic events of 2015 to the RCNA Convention in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The auction is for three days, July 22nd to 24th, 2015, and is offering over 1400 Lots of Canadian coins and paper money, including many rarities. This sale includes part 2 of the Kingston collection, part 5 of the Phil Harter collection, as well as the impressive Maritime collections. These three offerings are joined by selections from 39 additional consignors across North America. Some of the finest and greatest chartered banknotes ever offered to the public will be available for bidding, as well as many of Canada’s finest known specimens and high end mint state examples.

A major piece in the auction is cataloged at lot 793 on the 2nd day of the sale. This is a hard to find 1904 50 Cent piece graded ICCS MS65. The coin is a pristine gem key date issue, and shows attractive antique tones over full underlying lustre. It is excessively rare and desirable and can be the centerpiece of any serious collection. This is worth a premium bid and is opening for auction at $25000.

Another news worthy piece is also up for auction on July 23rd. At Lot 550 is a 1916 10 Cent piece graded PCGS MS68. It is a superb gem pristine and flawless issue. There are mirror like fields with just a touch of perfect greens and golds. This should be considered a museum example, and is the best of the best. This also is an important opportunity for registry set collectors. Lot 550 is expected to have strong bidding and is estimated at $22500 to $25000.

An incredible banknote is up for auction on the third day, showing at Lot 1343. A 1925 $500 Dominion of Canada note is one of the most outstanding of the day. This is DC-28s with serial number A000000 and graded PMG UNC64 Net. This is a lovely example of such a rare $500 bill and is seldom offered to the public at auction. This Canadian rarity is not to be missed as it may not be offered at auction again for a long time. This is estimated at $30000 or higher and carries an opening bid of $15000. Bidding again will be strong.

The online catalog has full descriptions and photos of over 1400 lots. This is one of the best sales of the year and will add significant pieces to collections. The auctions start on July 22nd at 7PM, July 23rd at 7:30 PM, and July 24th at 5:30PM, with all times being Atlantic time. Bidders can register and leave their maximum bids in the system right up until the item is pulled up for the live auction.
