Rare and Collectible Early American Antiques, Native American Collectibles, and Firearms, At Auction July 11

Over 500 lots of rare and collectible works will be up for auction on July 11th from the North American Auction Company. Continuing in their series of auctions in 2015 is another outstanding sale featuring a wide range of categories. This auction carries selections of early American antiques, Native American art and collectibles, Western collectibles, firearms, as well as furniture. The auction company has worked hard this year to procure quality consignments and this auction is no exception. This auction is open for absentee and live bidding through iCollector.com and is projected to be one of North American’s best sales of the year.

Lot 31 presents a very rare and important piece. This is a Blackfoot Beaver Back Dag from circa 1850. The piece is made from a blacksmiths large rasp file showing a craved maple handle with various brass covered iron trade tacks. This style of dag is given the “beaver back” name due to the similarity in the blade shape to a beaver’s tail. This measures 17.75 inches long with a 10” long and 1 7/8” rasp file blade. A selection of photos is available in the online catalog and absentee bidding has already begun.

An interesting piece of furniture is a rare 19th century Montana Steer Horn love seat. The piece has an iconic Western Cowboy Rancher design and is all hand crafted. There is a green felt like fabric and braided handing tassel Victorian design. The couch is in very good condition. There are also several steer horns as part of the design. This piece of rare furniture is available for bidding at Lot 105.

Lot 156 brings another fine piece of Native American work. Up for bidding is a Shawnee Brass Hammer Poll Tomahawk from 1800-1850. This is a wood handle and a brass tomahawk head. The weapon shows a carved wood handle with brass tacks decorating the upper area near the head. Once side of the piece shows an arrow figure and the other a chevron figure, both in brass tacks. This has wonderful hand etched designs done by the Shawnee people. North American Auction Company has put together an array of great photos to take a look at this tomahawk. Bidding will be brisk on this and it is expected to sell for several thousand dollars.

The auction will begin at 10AM Mountain Time from Montana. Several hundred people have already registered for online bidding so it is highly recommended to place maximum bids before the sale. The auction also will have a live audio and video feed to bring the action right to your computer. Bidding is easy and registrations are available now on iCollector.com
