Roland Auctions New York are presenting the estate of the esteemed Dr. Alan York for auction on March 11th, 2016 from their offices in New York City. Up for auction are 490 lots from this renowned and carefully preserved collection. Included are coins spanning 15th Century Spain, the American Revolution, the Space Race, Long Island historical banks, and much more. The collection also includes obsolete and satirical American bank note and bank check specimens, along with other international examples in precious metals. The very first lot of this auction is an incredible buy. Opening for bidding at only $1000 is a Spanish Double Excellente Gold Coin from Castille & Leon, circa 1475 – 1504. This coin was minted under King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella from the Seville mint. It weighs in at 6.99 grams and is in very fine condition. This coin is over 500 years old and is a must have for collectors of Spanish coins. This coin is estimated in value as much as $1800. A beautiful United States $10 National Bank Note from 1929 is up for grabs at Lot 102. Released by the Central Park National Bank from New York, this note is in very fine condition and has been carefully preserved throughout it’s provenance. Bidding is opening at $2000 and this is sure to sell with a high amount of bidding activity. The particulars of the note are serial # 12591, KL #1243, Fr #1801-1, and Type 1. Photos of both the front and back of the note are ready for viewing.

One of the treasures of the sale is a group of obsolete notes from Suffolk County Bank in 1844. This is an uncut sheet of notes with $2, $1, $3, and $5. There is a second uncut sheet with the $10 and $20 notes. These proofs are mounted on card, from the American Bank Note Company archives. The sheets are in uncirculated condition and make superb collection pieces. Opening bid on this valuable group is at $5000 and bidder interest is significant.
