A special feature in the first auction day worth looking at through Lot 210a. This is a 19FT-5 Colt Richards Conversion revolver. Valued at auction from 20,000 to 40,000 this is a can’t miss star of the sale. The full description is as follows:
” Colt Richards Conversion .44 Center fire revolver in excellent original condition contained within its original to the period cartridge era partition style case, S/N 193960. Shows 71-72 patent dates also whichalong with this high serial number indicate manufacture as a cartridge arm. This Colt remains in excellent to near mint condition with 95% plus original nickel. Minor losses on guard and a couple small spots oncylinder. A few very minor scratches. Almost 100% case colors on hammer and most original blue on small parts and springs. The grips are near excellent also with 9 Grand5% plus original varnish and would have been ratedexcellent except a 9mm circular compression on right grip. The bore is bright and the pistol shows little to no use. The interior of case is near excellent with minor compressions, very slight fraying and a small amount of fading only. The exterior is also near fine with only slight cleaning to finish with steel wool. A superb set considered among top Richards known. Provenance William Locke and Dr. Joseph Murphy collections.”
The only known luggage cased garniture of English Royal Mail Coach marked flintlocks are up for auction on the 2nd day at Lot 879. A highly collectible piece, the auction catalog says the following:
“The only known luggage cased garniture of English Royal Mail Coach marked flintlocks purchased by our consignor from Norm Flayderman in the 1990s. The set consists of a blunderbuss with a brass barrel by Harding& Son and a brace of 2 matching pistols all showing broad head English proofs and number 328 and 348 engraved on each of the barrels. The blunderbuss is almost 29” overall with a 13 ½” barrel of approximately 1” bore. Themuzzle is engraved “For His Majesty’s Royal Mail Coaches” in block letters. The gun is in very good condition with some light cleaning and polishing with a minor old armourer’s type repair to the stock. Well marked andinspected. The pair of pistols measure 15 ¼” overall with 9” brass barrels of approximately .60 caliber. Engraved “For his Majesty’s Royal Mail Coaches” in block letters on the edges of each muzzle. Thepistols are in good to very good condition with crisp markings and proofs along with 1834 date. The stocks are good with some darkened stain around the pin holes and keys often seen on British military issue flints”
The feature antique in the final day of the sale is an outstanding 19GFE-9 Grandfather Clock at Lot 1830. Whether bidding or not, everyone needs to see the photos in the online catalog. The description from Little John’s says:
“Very rare weight driven Grandfather clock with polyphon 24″ disc music box in base. Music box can be played manually or set up to be played on the hour, also comes with matching display box containing 38 disc. Both clocks and disc box has original beautiful finish. Clock & music box work great. Museum quality. Circa 1890s 98 1/2″ t x 35 1/2″ w x 21″d. Est.:$20,000-$40,000.”
