After being honored with pacing the Indianapolis 500 in its first year of production, Camaro returned to the famed Brickyard two years later to lead the 1969 edition of the 500. Buyers could purchase a specially equipped Pace Car Edition convertible by choosing Regular Production Option Z11. Available only in Rally Sport Super Sport convertibles, the Pace Car package comprised code 50 Dover White paint with Hugger Orange Sport stripes and body-side pin striping, White sills and rear panels, Orange Z87 Custom interiors with houndstooth cloth inserts, Rally wheels, bright dual exhaust tips and cowl-induction hoods. Of the almost quarter-million Camaros built in that record year, a mere 3,675 were produced with the Z11 Pace Car package and very few were produced with 396-375Hp Big Blocks and fewer with the 4 speed, making these cars highly sought-after collectibles today, especially when equipped with big-block 4-speed drivetrains. This incredible 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Indy Pace Car Edition convertible is equipped with the rare combination of 396/375 HP big-block V-8 and 4-speed manual transmission. This example has been stunnigly restored to factory specifications with no deatil overlooked. In addition to its ground pounding 396/375 HP V-8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt rear end, the car is generously optioned with front disc brakes, functional cowl induction, center console, Soft Ray-tinted windshield, tilt steering wheel and the Z87 Custom interior.
Incredible opportunity to own one of the most desirable muscle cars on the planet”
On Sunday, Electric Garage will have a full catalog ready for viewing in the morning; with late additions and plenty of surprises.
The online catalog will be uploaded close to the sale with full selections. Full photos and descriptions will be available, and new additions will be added as they come in. Electric Garage are great at making the sale happen. If the desired vehicle does not hit reserve, they very often can negotiate for no reserve or make a deal between bidder and seller. Check the online catalog daily for new additions as it gets closer to auction time.
