Hollywood memorabilia auction heats up the Nevada desert

Nothing inspires the imaginations of millions quite like a Hollywood blockbuster. For movie fans, being transported to distant lands populated by intriguing characters is a magical experience. Hollywood memorabilia auctions give those movie buffs the chance to take home a piece of the action. On June 29, the Piece of the Past Celebrity Memorabilia auction will present more than 200 lots of screen-worn costumes, memorabilia, props and signed photographs in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, many avid collectors won't have the opportunity to attend the auction in person. For those home bidders, iCollector has partnered with Piece of the Past auctions to provide an online portal where all the lots can be viewed and absentee bids can be cast. Here are some of the most popular pieces that will be available:

Signed photograph of Judy Garland
A signed photograph of the iconic Judy Garland dressed as Dorothy on the set of the Wizard of Oz is one of the rarest lots that will be available at this auction (lot #138). It is a 1939 black and white still that depicts Dorothy arm in arm with the Tin Man and the Scarecrow on the yellow brick road. It was originally signed for Garland's co-star, Jack Haley, who played the Tin Man. The inscription reads, "To Jack, Here we are! Judy Garland AKA Dorothy 11-19-1967." A truly exquisite piece, this photo came to the auction from Haley's estate sale and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Christmas card from Elvis Presley
Legends of the silver screen aren't the only ones being represented at this auction. A signed Christmas card from the King of Rock 'n' Roll Elvis Presley presents a unique opportunity to music industry collectors (lot #142). Though Elvis did star in his fair share of motion pictures, it was his music that he was most known for. The card depicts the King in front of a Christmas tree flanked by two large dogs. It is signed on the back and includes a certificate of authenticity.

Signed Clint Eastwood prop
A prop speedbag from the movie Million Dollar Baby and signed by Clint Eastwood would make a nice addition to anyone's movie memorabilia collection (lot #205). Eastwood starred opposite Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman in that film about a female boxer and a troubled trainer. If you enjoyed the film, you now have the opportunity to take a piece of it home with you.
