Important Collector’s Auction of Firearms Running September 24th to 26th

The auction features a selection of superb firearms including the finest known Cased LeMat and an original inscribed Martial Henry rifle. Lot 149 is an incredible piece offered for auction. This is the feature LeMat revolver. It is the finest known second model from the iconic Cliff Young Collection with the serial number 1432. This opens for bidding at $45000 and is a premier treasure for collectors. The detailed description is as follows:

The barrel is marked “Col. LeMat Ste S.G.D.G. Paris”. All features as standard and in its original to the period casingwith accessories which include rare LeMat brass mold with iron sprue cutter, maple ramrod, three very rare original paper cartridges for smoothbore, Dixon pistol flask in almost mint condition, Eley cap box, andLeMat lead bullets. The condition is superb with almost all the original bright blue finish and straw colored small parts. Pristine in every way with a minimal amount of natural aging and the case is also nearoriginal mint. Illustrated in the “Confederate LeMat” by Doug Adams. The best LeMat Cliff young could obtain in over 60 years of sophisticated and well-funded collecting. Cliff Young was recognized in his lifetime as America’s most knowledgeable Confederate arms collector. This assertion was made by my friend Bill Gary who was another expert of wide acclaim.

Up at Lot 150 is the incredible fine and original inscribed Martial Henry Rifle #3688. Opening at $20000 this is another treasure and was formerly in the Chester Bonoff Collection and obtained by him from the descendants of the original soldier.. As described in the catalog:

The rifle has a silver inscription plaque inlaidin the left side of frame which is engraved in original period script, “R.W. Crampton, Hannibal, MO, August 1864”. The rifle shows a period folding tang peep sight, inspected with “H” at front of right frame and “C” atrear portion of barrel where it meets the frame, no inspection marks visible on stock. The rifle remains in original fine condition with sharp barrel address, sharp markings, crisp edges, 75%-85% of the original finishon barrel turned to light plum color, gorgeous dark taffy colored brass frame, sharp overall, with good wood that has been lightly cleaned, rear sight on barrel a period handmade V-notch type in the originalbarrel slot that matches the patina of the rifle and has always been with it; original wood cleaning rod in stock.
